 Psychotherapy and Counselling

Patty Deppe

Originally from St. Paul, USA, Patty has been resident in London for over 30 years. A successful writer and counsellor, her passion for understanding herself, people and the world around her led her to train as a bereavement counsellor to help people through some of their darkest periods in coping with loss. Eager to broaden her knowledge and do more, she subsequently qualified as an accredited mediator, and holds a PG Dip in Psychotherapy and Counselling.  Patty uses all her skills and experience to ensure that every client’s therapy experience is tailored to the specific circumstances and is unique as they are.

Therapy description:

I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist, which means my work with you involves an exploration of the different levels of your life and experience. This includes unconscious processes and dreams. We will seek to make a connection between what goes on in the background of your thoughts and the obstacles and unhelpful perceptions. You are encouraged to talk about and understand your feelings, and to learn to distinguish between thoughts and fears. I have helped clients work through and with anxiety and depression, panic attacks, personality disorders, as well as bereavement. The first session is an assessment where we can discuss any questions or concerns you may have, as well as expectations and hopes.

My approach is person-centred, which means that your needs together with my skills will determine the way we work together. I work on different levels of understanding including the past, present and future potentials. I also work with dreams, spirituality, symbols and myth.
As a published author, my work is accessible and transformative. I’ve worked extensively with clients helping them to make sense of who they are and what they experience.
Our first session, which is free of charge, is a chance for us to meet, discuss issues briefly, and talk about a way forward. I will ask you to fill in some forms that will help me to assess your needs.

What Pattys clients say:

” I wasn’t sure what to expect from therapy as I’d never considered it before visiting Patty but she quickly put me at ease and I soon began to talk about issues I’d be bottling up for years.  She really listened to me and helped me work out my own way forward rather than giving me the answers and that made the whole experience very personal and empowering.”
“I came to Patty with panic attacks. Her calm presence enabled me to stop and understand myself better.”
