Active Isolated Stretching, The Mattes Method

Remedial &  Sports Massage

To release muscle tension, improve circulation, help to relieve acute and chronic muscle pain and increase joint mobility and range of movement.

Ellie began her training in 2004 qualifying as a massage therapist before proceeding with Remedial & Sports Massage at the LSSM.  She came across AIS, The Mattes Method back in 2005 and attended her first seminar in Orlando, Florida in 2006.  Since then, she has trained extensively under Aaron’s guidance at his clinic in Sarasota, Florida and assisted at both his London seminars in 2009 and 2010.

Remedial and Sports Massage therapy is an effective way to prevent and treat muscle injuries, imbalances and pain by firstly assessing the soft tissues and then by manual manipulation.   Different techniques such as Soft Tissue Release, Neuromuscular Technique, stretching and deep tissue work are used to remove toxins and to break down adhesions.  These will improve recovery time and encourage healing.

Although Sports massage is geared towards enhancing sporting performance and ability, it can be used for everybody whether you are a professional or a “sports enthusiast”.  It can be used throughout all the different stages of training pre, during and post competition to prevent injury and to assist with recovery.

Active Isolated Stretching, The Mattes Method

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a deep stretching technique used to:

  • Improve flexibility &  joint mobility

  • Realign posture

  • Relieve back pain

  • Energise the body

  • Enhance athletic performance

  • Rehabilitate muscle, tendon & ligament injuries

  • Assist pre and post natal fitness

Stress Relief

Gentle stretching can invigorate the circulatory, respiratory and neuromuscular systems which in turn can help to alleviate stress.
